With a little time and effort your Barbour jacket will last for many, many years. However there are a few do's and don't's to get the most from your garment.
Do
- Clean it. Use cold water and a sponge but don't use soap or detergent, they can damage the jacket.
- Repair it. There is no shame in wearing a Barbour jacket that has "seen better days" - however, to the job right, return it to the shop from which you bought it, or directly to Barbour. A typical repair or service takes around two or three weeks.

Don't
- Repair it yourself. A jacket can be irrevocably damaged - return it to Barbour to maximise longevity.
- Machine wash your jacket. This will remove the wax coating and cannot be undone.
- Dry clean it. Again this can ruin your jacket.
